Avoid a lash-up

Whether you just want to add a bit of flutter to your own lashes or make a statement with jewelled or feathered versions, there is something for everyone.

With more and more companies launching brands, it looks like it’s a trend that’s here to stay.

The only downside is they can be tricky to apply.

So to help you get the perfect fit we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to attaching fake lashes.

See the slideshow below to see a picture guide to application…

1. Put a thin line of glue along the fake lash. Leave for 40 seconds before attaching to lash line, allowing the glue to feel tacky.

If you apply too quickly it is likely to move or you will have to hold it longer before it sticks.

2. If you have a steady hand use tweezers to hold the lash, but be careful you don’t poke your eye. To err on the side of caution, you can use fingers. Apply them somewhere that is well lit – a magnifying mirror is useful.

3. Close eye but keep it gently closed, to avoid the skin puckering. Gently take the inner corner of the lashes and place it as close to your lash line as possible. Hold for a few seconds and repeat at the outside edge.

4. Open your eye and check the inner and outer corners have stuck. If you have made a mistake gently lift the end, add a dab of glue and place again until it is correct.Gently press the edges to make sure it has stuck.
