B/CS Offers Christmas Tree Recycling
Font Size:
Now that the holidays are over, many are taking down their Christmas decorations. The cities of Bryan and College Station are offering an environmentally friendly way to get rid of your old Christmas tree.
There will be no drop off location for recycling this year. Trees will instead be picked up through your regularly scheduled curbside collection service.
For folks in College Station, it will run through January 7.
There is no deadline in Bryan. just put your tree out on your regularly scheduled brush and bulky collection day.
Artificial snow, decorations and tree stands must be removed from the trees.
Recycled trees are either composted or chipped and spread through parks. The chips help alleviate soil compaction caused by foot traffic, reduce soil erosion and provide nutrients to the soil.

Guess we have to burn ours, what a waste to have trees burned or dumped at the landfill instead of recycling them into chips. Bad move in my opinion. Posted by: Heather on Jan 3, 2011 at 03:33 PM its a little late isn’t it? Everyone I know has already disposed of their tree. Posted by: Indian Lake resident Location: CS on Jan 3, 2011 at 02:49 PM I sure hate to hear that there is not a drop off location. The landfill (and/or rural roads) will see numerous trees needlessly dumped when they could have been recycled.
