Gordon Ramsay explains “hair transplant” rumours
Gordon Ramsay has explained away rumours that he recently had a hair transplant – claiming his swollen face and scalp were due to a “horrific” infection and an allergic reaction.
The 44-year-old Kitchen Nightmares star was recently pictured looking puffy-faced and wearing a medical cap on his head, sparking rumours that he had undergone the procedure.
But he has now spoken about the photos, saying his appearance was due to a recent encounter with robbers in Costa Rica, who poured gas all over him, which led to a nasty scalp infection.
He said: “I had petrol doused, gasoline poured all over my hair and I had a horrific infection. it certainly didn’t cause my hair to be falling out.”
Ramsay added: “I was in Napa for Christmas literally two weeks after the shoot and went horseback riding with the kids and had a horrendous allergic reaction to the horse, combined with the problems I had with my scalp – so it was just a hair nightmare.”
But the TV star seems to be feeling much better now.
According to People.com, he said: “I can now say that I am almost 60 to 70 per cent recovered.”
