eyelash growth

How is lash tint different from regular mascara? is it better at enhancing the look of eyelashes or what? I occasionally use mascara, but wonder if lash tint works any better. is lash tint worth buying? I have seen both at the stores that both Neutrogena (and I think Maybelline) sell lash tint.
