Radio Nova launches in Dublin
Radio Nova launched to the Dublin, Wicklow, Meath and Kildare airwaves for the first time at 1pm today.
The station was planning a high-profile launch in the city centre, designed to attract crowds along the Quays and on O’Connell Bridge. “big, bold, fun and memorable, the team wanted to launch with a bang simply because this is the type of station that Radio Nova will be,” said Radio Nova’s CEO, David Tighe.
Live music from the River Liffey, three flash mobs, 40 Harley Davidsons, bridge banners, a VIP launch party and an airplane over the Liffey were some of the main activities planned for the launch.
“we are talking to radio audiences directly and we really believe we know what listeners over the age of 25 want from the new Radio Nova,” said Tighe. we have invited the public to share with us details of their favourite music and this will help shape our playlists, so we are confident that we have a winning formula.”
Radio Nova’s backers include Vienna Investments: Dermot Hanrahan, Pearse Farrell, Peter Aiken, Maurice Cassidy, Ulick McEvaddy, Greg Sparks and John Sparks; Bay Broadcasting: Kevin Branigan, Mike Ormonde and Tom Anderson; and businessmen Des Whelan and Pat McDonagh.
