Red eared slider has dry eyelids!?
My red eared slider has dry eyelids. When his eyes open, I can see the top of his eyelids and the bottom around his eyes are dry and white. sometimes he keeps one eye open and the other one closed. I read some articles from internet said it's mean it lack of vitamin a. and they suggest to use cod liver oil which contain Vitamin a and D add in the food when feed. I have some cod liver oil capsule which contain Vitamin a, D and E. Is Vitamin E ok for him? and how much and how often I can give him. and what I can do with his dry eyelids? I'm worry that is fungus. my turtle is very picky on food and he eats very little in the moment coz of the cold weather and he doesn't eat fruit and veg at all that's why I want to give him vitamin supplement.
Anyone can help?
Thank you
If you could get him to eat, the cod liver oil would work. the vitamin E won't hurt. You could also try feeding your RES strips of liver, another good source and easier to get inside a turtle. If the turtle is picky, earthworms are usually a favorite food. Bait fishes might get him hunting. Once the turtle is mature, you can start adding dark green leafy vegetables to his diet.
if i were you i would call a vet
