Lash extensions … are they a good idea?

Lash extensions ... are they a good idea?

Mascara seems too stuff, especially the waterproof, and I just don't get how to glue on false eyelashes. The point is, I really want a little thicker & bit darker lashes. (My avatar is me.) does anyone have experience good or bad with lash extensions? There's a shop nearby that advertises Xtreme Lashes.

I don't want to do anymore things that end up being 'stupid' if you know what I mean.

Thanks for ur help.

There is nothing wrong with Lashes, I think you should try them.
I work at Mac, so that is where I get all of my Cosmetics, but you can find lashes anywhere.

Lash extensions … are they a good idea?

Big Damn Heroes by Geek Chic Cosmetics

Geek Chic Cosmetics, a wonderful company that I was introduced to several months ago by Ana, recently released a collection that I believe Ana helped to create, called Big Damn Heroes. the collection is inspired by Firefly, an awesome Joss Whedon tv series.

I REALLY love the looks of Ambassador (hey, I went as a Companion to a party!) and little Albatross. I also think Captain Tightpants looks pretty, but it would probably pull too orange on me. Very Fine Hat is such a neat color, and I always love greens like Inevitable Betrayal.

Of course, all the ‘chic’ and ‘geek’ color descriptions are adorable. I really love the extra step that Geek Chic takes with their colors!

Little AlbatrossThe Chic: this little Albatross is a deep, steel-blue with blue and silver sparkles. the sparkliest of the bunch.

The Geek: way I remember it, albatross was a ship’s good luck ’til some idiot killed it. Morbid and creepifying, but brilliant nonetheless. Also, she can kill you with her brain.

AmbassadorThe Chic: Ambassador is a rich, reflective plummy-maroon filled with golden sparkle.

The Geek: Plenty of worlds won’t even let you dock without a decent companion aboard! it lends a certain respectability, as does this eyeshadow.

Captain TightpantsThe Chic: Captain Tightpants is a ruddy shiny golden-toned copper; it would look right at home next to his coat, which is… kind of a brownish colour.

The Geek: we love our Captain; he might be bad in the Latin but he’s a nice man, really. someone must have told Mal he was an autumn, because he’s always decked out in earth-that-was-tones.

Very Fine HatThe Chic: Very Fine Hat is a very blackened, dirty gold, just right for the sad little king. Deep and dark with a golden sheen lurking beneath.

The Geek: Badger is a businessman, a fine upstanding gentleman with roots in the community and yes – a very fine hat. he also got his hands on a couple of diamonds the size of- well, you know.

Inevitable BetrayalThe Chic: His was an evil laugh, but Inevitable Betrayal is a reflective golden-toned dinosaury-green.

The Geek: some people juggle geese, some play with dinosaurs and some wear green eyeshadow. a tribute to the best pilot we know, even if something about him just bothers us.

Have you tried any colors from the Big Damn Heroes collection? If so, what did you like?

Longer Lash Tips

1295546414 69 Longer Lash Tips

Everyone woman wishes she had beautiful and longer lashes. Unfortunately, all women are not blessed with those movie star like longer lash. That’s okay though, because we’re going to talk about a few simple tips you can employ to enhancer your eyelashes like never before.

Longer Lash Tip #1 – Eyelash Conditioner

Eyelash conditioners are a relatively new development in the realm of Eyelash Enhancers. these lash cosmetics are designed to strengthen the lash hair follicles and protect your eyelashes from harmful environmental effects. in addition to providing this dual layer level of protecting your eyelash growth is further fortified by essential minerals and ingredients. these minerals are key to developing healthy new hair growth while protecting your existing growth.

Longer Lash Tip #2 – Eyelash Curler

As you begin to encourage and develop new growth you’ll discover new techniques to further pop your eyelashes. one of the most simple and effective Eyelash Enhancer techniques is using a basic eyelash curler. You can pickup a curler inexpensively at most stores that carry cosmetic or beauty items. Eyelash curlers are easy to use and will give you that longer lash look you really want to see.

Longer Lash Tip #3 – Using Mascara and Vaseline

Mascara is perhaps the most common way to increase the healthy and beautiful lash look you’re seeking. You will want to use a straight brush to apply the mascara horizontally. Using dark mascara will help your eyelashes look longer and fuller. that said, you may want to try different colors to see those colors which help pop your eyelashes the best. If you do elect to use mascara make sure you curl your lashes prior to applying the mascara.

You could also use Vaseline instead of mascara. many women find that Vaseline is simply a better alternative, offering a healthy glow with a very light and easy application process.

Longer Lash Tip #4 – Powdering Eyelashes

After you’ve applied your mascara and curled your lashes you may consider also using a basic eyelash powder. Quantity is the key factor here. It’s much better to start with a small amount of powder and add more as needed, excess powder can simply remove the color and sheen from your mascara.

Longer Lash Tip #5 – Eyelash Extensions

The final longer lash tip is simply attaching eyelash extensions. If you simply don’t want to go through the hassle of all of the above options or you a quick fix for longer eyelashes then eyelash extensions may be the choice for you. False eyelashes can be attached quickly and are much more comfortable than they used to be. Eyelash extensions will give you that super curly and sexy look you want in your eyelashes.

Citrine’s Blog: Shiseido Eyelash Curler

I always though that it doesn’t matter much what you use to curl your lashes…until I got my Shu Uemura curler. With its steady grip, a flatter curve and gummier pad, Shu Uemura curler gave me my first pinch-free lash curling experience ever…Since Uemura was so much better than the 3 dollar Revlon, I never thought about trying new curlers until the tragic accident (I swear it has nothing to do with my butt …)

Anyway, now I am kind of glad I did squash the Shu Uemura curler, as I have met my new favorite: Shiseido (the granddaddy of all Japanese cosmetics) !

1289466007 90 Citrines Blog: Shiseido Eyelash CurlerShiseido (the Silver one is from “The Makeup”, from the way it looks I am assuming it’s the same thing as Shiseido 213 sold in Japan) eyelash curler looks strikingly similar to Shu Uemura (duh!) with the silver frame and black rubber pad. Just like Uemura, it has a steady grip (not top heavy like Revlon), a flatter barrel and a tip that curves outward.
1289466007 54 Citrines Blog: Shiseido Eyelash CurlerThe curler comes with a paper box and after some serious looking, I can’t find anything like “discard it after 6 months”, just the basic precaution about avoiding squashing and bending it. the retail price for this Shiseido curler is 17.5 dollars, a bit cheaper than the 19-dollar Shu Uemura. However, if you were to buy them in Japan, Hong Kong or duty free…each of them are around 10 bucks. (So they are not really a splurge purchase, a rip-off for American, more like)

Of course, I prefer Shiseido over Uemura not because I like the brand better (as a matter of fact, I do like the brand), I found Shiseido provide me a better curve and a more comfortable application. If I am one of those Youtube girls, I might just stop my review over here…but since I never take people’s point unless they give a solid reason…I will just go on with the review.

The difference in performance doesn’t come out of nowhere, so let’s take a look at the tiny parts first and see what we can find.
1289466008 77 Citrines Blog: Shiseido Eyelash CurlerLike Uemura, the Shiseido pad has a mushroom top and a gummy texture (I felt that it’s a bit less stiff than Uemura but I don’t have an instrument to test that out.) Placed side by side and shot in a bird eye view, you can see that one pad just doesn’t stand straight…Well, feel free to blame it on me for putting on a slanted surface (the block is machine cut so it’s level to the ground). in fact, it’s the pad that’s slanted.
1289466008 21 Citrines Blog: Shiseido Eyelash CurlerLet’s draw some mental picture here: if you cut the Uemura from top, the cross session you get would be a mushroom, like a session of a squashed half-circle at the top with a rectangular base. For the Shiseido ones is the same squashed circle at the top, but the bottom is a parallelogram with an angle is aimed outward. The angle could be estimated but without a micrometer, I would introduced an error and get a result like 50 degree +/- 10degree so I am not going to bother with that…(Unless you would like to send me an micrometer, that guy is around 100 bucks, by the way…)

Anyway, I will just explain what can the subtle structural difference makes in my review for Maquillage curler later because I don’t want this overly long and the Maquillage review way too short.
