Eyelashes being permed?
More information about my eyes here… http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkqDl0bfH4dN9eFnDv7Eh5cjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20090303205251AAYfQtT
I want to get an eyelash perm… most people don't like the idea of having a perm on eyelashes, but if you think about it, it's the exact same concept for when you do your hair; your hair just stays curly without having to curl your hair everyday. It's more like a time saver IMO.
My eyelashes are so straight and coarse its ridiculous. I wear contacts, and my eyelashes are fairly long so I have to curl my eyelashes first to avoid pulling on my eye too much while putting them in. to curl them, I literally have to hold a warm eyelash curler and hold it place for 30 seconds. I do the "3-step" curling technique: Base of the lashes, mid, and outer parts. ( I use the Japanese brand "KAZ" since Shu Umeura the "best seller" doesn't do what it says it should.) And then the curl will stay for about… 30 minutes?
So for those of you who have done it:
Besides "going blind" what other risks are there?
Does it hurt o_O?
I'd like it professionally done, so what kind of place was it?
Around how much did it cost?
Thanks >_<;;
you cannot get your eyelashes permed. Your eyelashes will fall out and don't mention the chemicals near your eyes! That's just trouble waiting to happen.
Don't do it.
I don't think that any reputable salon would do this. I can understand why you'd want to have this done, but the fact of the matter is that curling solutions are very powerful chemicals, and using them so close to the eye is simply asking for trouble. sorry. I would certainly not recommend you try it yourself. again, it's asking for trouble. If the solution gets in your eyes, it really could permanently, totally blind you. sure, you might get away with it a couple of times, but if you've permed your scalp hair at all, you know that the solution will splash occasionally.
I've asked about getting my eyebrows dyed when I get my scalp hair dyed, and the salons always refuse to do it, saying it's too dangerous and against the law besides.
okay seriously that is just GAY…as a nurse I will tell you going blind should be reason enough….really seriously no one is looking at your lashes as much as you are lol
My Three Bubs: If You See Me, Just Don’t Point and Laugh
I’ve thought long and hard about posting this. For one, because it’s totally embarrassing. I can laugh at myself, though. question is… do I want you to laugh at me? You’ll probably think that either a) I’m the most unfortunate person you’ve ever ‘met’ or b) I’m a complete moron. I’d like you to go with ‘a.’
So… I’m not much of a ‘makeup’ girl. Oh, I used to be. I used to look like I had escaped from the circus (and that’s another story for another time). since having kids, though (and living at the beach), I just have no use for makeup. Me getting gussied up is me wearing tinted sunscreen. However, not wearing makeup very often is not to say I don’t have a beauty routine.
My daily beauty routine consists of washing my face, applying eye cream (ya know, the wrinkle fighting kind), moisturizer with an SPF, lip gloss, and…
… the medieval torture device known as the eyelash curler. okay, so I like my eyelashes curled. I have stubby, pathetic little lashes. They look better if they’re curled, even though I rarely wear mascara.
A couple weeks ago, I was feeling odd. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I just knew something was off… out of place… or… missing. I felt a draft? I can’t really explain it other than my right eye felt weird, and I just chalked it up to the fact that I had recently got my haircut and made the asinine decision to get bangs (which, by the way, are currently poking me in the eyeballs and annoying the ever loving stew out of me).
It took me several days, but I finally made the gruesome discovery… I’m missing a whole hell of a lot of eyelashes on my right eye. I don’t mean the random one or two that occasionally fall out. I mean a LOT. like, there is a HUGE gap in my eyelashes. I was stumped. I spent about a week running my finger over the area in disbelief, trying to figure out what happened. I thought of every possible scenario. Is it some weird postpartum hormonal thing? a vitamin deficiency? I even zeroed in on my hairdresser. That heifer must have cut off my eyelashes while she was chopping my bangs all to hell. but that didn’t make sense either, especially due to the short stubby nature of my lashes. It’s not likely they could have been, um, in the way.
I finally pointed it out to DB and the boys. They laughed. Uncontrollably. I was still perplexed… and was even checking everyday to make sure I hadn’t lost anymore. Then, one morning, I went through the usual routine. after washing my face, I opened the bathroom drawer and happened to see my eyelash curler. I hadn’t picked it up since… hey, wait a minute!!! It hadn’t dawned on me before, but I had a light bulb moment when I saw it. I just knew. And, sure enough, when I picked it up there were my eyelashes dangling from the contraption.
How could this happen? Well, apparently, you’re supposed to change out those spongy pads on the eyelash curler. I think every 3 months is the recommendation. how many times have I changed them? Never. Never in, like, 10 years… or more. I can’t remember when I got the thing, but I’ve had it a really, really, really long time. And, when you don’t change out the spongy pads? Well, they get squished with use and then the bare metal CHOPS OFF YOUR DANG EYELASHES. Lesson learned.
And, just so you know… eyelashes DO NOT grow back fast. I might need some Latisse.
Are there any mascaras out there that simply darken the lashes?
…without "plumping" them or making them stiff? That's all I want…just slightly darker lashes… Tinting/dying them is not an option for me.
i love Lash blast!
look for ur self.. i am on the left.. and those r my real eyelashes.. and they r soft with the mascara on..
I have this mascara my mom got for me but I've only used it like once. It's called Revlon Fabulash Mascara or something. I don't think it plumps them or makes them stiff but you could always use an eyelash brush to brush them. also sometimes I would just take my Cover Girl Lash Blast and brush the mascara onto the eyelash brush and brush through my lashes. It makes them darker.
kiss me mascara. you can easily remove them by using water and gentle rubbing

Eyelash Growth?
My husband pulled out some of his eyelashes….enough of them in fact, that you can see a bald area!! He feels like a dork and wants to know when and IF they will grow back in.
My question is, how long does it take for eyelashes to grow back?
According to the below site, several months.
I wouldn't worry; mine come out on their own in patches, and they eventually grow back.
Choose An Eyelash Conditioner That’s Good For Your Lashes And Skin
Actress Claire Danes has recently made headlines because of her endorsement of a particular brand of eyelash growth enhancer. as a celebrity spokesperson, she kept careful track of the progress made by her chosen eyelash conditioner, and reported some redness around the eye area for a week. Now, reports are coming out that the skin around her eyes have been permanently damaged because of the product, with the skin turning yellow and purple, and that a lot of makeup is now being used to conceal the damage.
Her rep has slammed the reports, of course, but whether or not the incident is true, this definitely is a warning to everyone to be more careful about selecting the right eyelash conditioner. Wanting to grow eyelashes may sound like such a vain thing, but the process itself isn’t simple, certainly not one you should be risking your eyes over. The skin around your eyes is highly sensitive, and you don’t want to do it or your eyes any damage at all. that is why you need to be smart about the eyelash growth products you are planning to use. there are a lot of them out there, so you have to be more discerning when making a purchase.
Anything that you will be applying to your skin, especially the one around your eyes, needs to be carefully tested, and you should also know what types of ingredients are in it. any dubious chemicals and substances are warning flags that tell you to steer clear of them. It’s usually ideal for such products to have natural ingredients or are plant-based, and if there are any substances that you aren’t familiar with, the company should at least provide a description of these and why they are necessary.
It would also help people who want to know how to get long eyelashes if they do some research on the product as well, and take part in forums and discussion boards to read up on people’s reviews and their experiences with a particular product. People are generally upfront about what they use and how it reacted with their skin, and a near-unanimous positive feedback should be a very good sign that the product you’re considering buying will have the desired effects.
Remember to be a smart consumer and to not just grab the first product you see that promises to grow your lashes. You have to be sure that your eyes won’t be affected at all, and that you will end up with wonderful results.
