Q: What should a client consider before deciding to try permanent makeup? What is the difference between permanent and semi-permanent make-up?
DO NOT do it…. all the inks change colors throughout the course of time.
Permanent make up doesn’t mean the end of your misery(ies). It takes daily make up routine to make it better, only with lesser hassle. Semi-permanent are the normal cosmetic products you can get from the shelves, Sephora, cosmetic counters. They’re the ideal definition of make up. Put it on and take it off after use. As easy as that
DO NOT GET PERMANENT MAKEUP, it looks awful
When considering permanent and semi-permanent makeup procedures, a client should consider the possibility of uneven tattooing, allergic reactions, etc. A client can also hate the results, and removal of the tattoos is not only expensive but difficult. Makeup is not so difficult to apply daily. especially if its relatively the same day to day.
I actually have worked at a permanent makeup center, and I have never personally had it done but I have seen it done on others. When considering permanent makeup be sure that the technician doing your procedure is SPCP (Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals) certified & credited. Also ask to see pictures of their work. Make sure that they use “micropigments” and not tattoo ink, as tattoo ink changes color as it ages. Tattoo ink is permanent and micropigments are semi-permanent, as they will fade away through time.
A client should consider many things:- person doing the procedure- people who have done it and outcome- recommendations- and most of all if its really a necessityThe difference between permanent makeup and semi permanent makeup are of that of a real tattoo and henna, respectively.
Ugh..I am really not a fan of permanent makeup..you really want to make sure the look you are going for is something that you can live with, that compliments you and will not look odd when fading. Black liner not being maintenance will soon look like an unflattering blue.
ACK! NEVER DO IT! SO BAD. SCARY, and I’m not kidding…
Never consider permanent makeup. you might not always want to look the same way! If anything semi-permanent would be the best option. It starts to fade within 3 to 6 months and you can decide whether you want to touch it up or change the colors. What happens when you dye your hair lighter and your eyebrows stay dark forever? with semi permanent there is choice of switching colors when they fade or you have the option of not doing it anymore, once it fades. Make sure the technician has a good reputation.
Permanent makeup is basically cosmetic tattooing, you will have it for life, also you want to make sure you go to someone recommend with a good history of happy customers i don’t think I need to explain why. Personally I like to change my look and my makeup so if your like me go for something less committal that permanent makeup.
There should be no consideration…just don’t do it….point, blank, period.
There is very few times that I have seen “good” permanent makeup. I think the concept is great for women that want to look like they are wearing makeup all the time. Do your homework as with anything else permanent. ask for referrals and see with your own eyes. Semi-permanent makeup eventually comes off, usually after 24 to 48 hours, permanent you are stuck with it like it or not.
Whether they really need it and they need to fully understand the after effects and dangers. Permanent is self explanatory and semi-permanent will fade after a length of time.
The required time for the work, weather conditions and transport home. A full body paint can take 6 hours, if its raining, it will run and you need a shower or a way to get home covered in water based paint. Mums make up is oil based, don’t use that lipstick anywhere you don’t want staining that colour!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL. Just imagine something goes wrong … You´ll look like an idiot for a very long while !
Women should consider the way their face will look like in 20+ years. your skin will sag over time, and your face will most likely not be symmetrical. If you have permanent make-up, your eye brows may end up in two different places, your lips may look un-even. Plus the color will fade over time. I would not recommend it
Whether or not they will outgrow it. Semi-permanent will have to be re-done at some point.
I would never recommend permanent makeup unless it is a special circumstance. I knew a lady who didn’t have eyebrows so she had them put in permanently so that’s fine. If you are under 40, I doubt permanent makeup should be considered because trends/looks change so much and you might regret it.
Just making sure the person is reputable and meet with them first for sure. Also make sure they have references and pictures of clients and their work. Remember a tattoo is forever, and it’s on your face, yikes!
I am one who likes to try different color combination and change things up so I am not fond of permanent makeup. Anyone who is should be sure to seek out a true professional. It is after all, permanent.
Always consider that trends change, so if you’re going to permanently have makeup applied then make sure you’re going to want the same look for a very, very long time.
That if someone makes a mistake while applying it, its permanent. I’ve seen some horrible permanent makeup in my time… and I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. It also tends to discolor so most women find themselves ending up having to apply a little product to correct it anyways….your not really going to save much time.
Permanent make up is usually tattooed on. this needs to be taken into very strong consideration, as it is forever.
If they know that is the look they want to stick with.
I’m not for tattooing eyebrows and lips but eyeliner is ok.
Well permanent make up is something to consider, remember its permanent which means forever! Semi mean temporary it will eventually come off….. I would go for Semi but everyone has different reasons for this type of procedure. Always seek professional consultation…
Do your homework. with permanent makeup, it is forever and hard to get rid of. I honestly don’t agree with it as your face will change with age and it can look worse years from now. As for the difference between permanent and semi-permanent, think tattoo vs. a sharpie. Enough said.
Should consider if you would still want the permanent makeup that you are getting to be on you when you are 60, 70 & 80+
I don’t specialize in permanent makeup. However, from what I have heard, with permanent makeup you need to consider the fact that your face is going to change as you age – eyelids will sag, brow hairs will thin out, and so on. What suits you at 40 may not look so good down the track. Semi-permanent sounds like a much better option to me!
Permanent makeup can be a little scary sometimes…Ive seen blue brows, uneven lips, I suggest taking the extra five minutes every morning to apply yourself. your face changes over time, what looks good now, might not in 5 years…
I don’t recommend permanent makeup because it’s just that, permanent and you are stuck with it. Also, I have heard of people having serious allergic reactions to the inks used which are not like regular tattoo ink.Semi-permanent makeup would be the best option if you are looking for a longer term application but still, I suggest something that you can wash off.
I’d encourage any client to try semi-permanent first if they are seriously considering having permanent makeup done – as its like a trial run and does wear out after a couple of months. I’ve seen permanent makeup look awful after a few months, like eyebrows turning bluish grey. I’d advise a lot of research into permanent makeup before even thinking of having any done.
I’m not too familiar with permanent and semi permanent makeup. but with anything like that I believe the client should consider if it’s really necessary.
Consider aging…permanent make up will be there and that color forever so I strongly discourage it. Semi permanent like lash and eye brow tinting is a great alternative.
If they really need it. There’s not going back so you have to consider it carefully. especially eyebrows. If you get your eyebrows tattooed, they might not match and you’re stuck. and it’s not always safe and pain free.
The biggest thing to consider is whether you are going to be happy with the look you choose forever. Styles change with the times and looks change based on your moods. is the look you choose going to match every mood you have? Also, the makeup will fade over time and can come to look distorted.
There are people who like being always perfect so they have to correct their make up several times during the day. the best suggestion in that case is a semi-permanent make up which lasts for about two years. It is not risky if performed in authorized and safe places and by skillful professionals. Negative aspect of the permanent makeup is that it can be changed.
Permanent make up is going to fade, period. I am very skeptical of anything cosmetic that is supposed to be permanent.
I, personally do not promote permanent makeup. Mainly because, once tattoo-ed on, you no longer have the choice to change it. I have also seen the ink change shades over time to some very unflattering colors.Semi-permanent makeup is very long wearing formulas, you may need a special remover to take off. i.e. severely waterproof liquid liners or long wear lip colors.
I am an avid believer in change….so I don’t think I would ever opt for permanent anything. unless it was a case of, hair loss, or eyelash loss, where it would be a beautiful gift to have permanent eyebrows. Trends change and so does the color of the ink that the tattoos are done with….you start with auburn eyebrows and 2 years later they are magenta! Not good.
I’m not a fan of permanent makeup … I’ve seen some really bad jobs & that was enough for me.
I would highly recommend not getting anything fashionable or trendy. this is a tattoo, are you going to want to wear red lipstick when you are 80 or thick black liner? Stick with something natural. Semi only lasts 2-3 years because of the depth of the ink. I would suggest they try this first before tattooing.
I would not recommend permanent makeup to a client.
Same as tattoos vs. temp tattoos. you make the call.
They could consider whether or not they do not mind living with someone’s error on their face, and the cost of upkeep and correction. I’m not a fan never have been.
I hate permanent makeup… most people think its a one time shot… they don’t realize that you have to get regular touch ups every couple of years or it fades and changes colors and you end up with pink eyebrows. Permanent makeup was the biggest mistake I ever did… plus hello, how good do you think it feels with a tattoo needle on your eye?? Don’t do it.
I am not experienced or trained in permanent (or semi-permanent) makeup, but over the years I have certainly seen a lot of bad work. If a client is considering this as an option I would advise them to be certain they want a specific look before going permanent. Also, be sure to go to a reputable professional whose work you have seen. otherwise, you could end up with crooked, discolored eyebrows or worse.
That it is permanent and they should be very sure before going ahead. Semi permanent fades and only lasts a certain amount of time and permanent is there for good, Like a tattoo.
You will have permanent make-up forever so, please make sure you find someone good who knows what they are doing and is very sanitary for health reasons.
Personally I wouldn’t advice this, sorry!
What will you do if you have a special event to attend and you makeup doesn’t match the event. your stuck with what you got.
I advise against it. Hate the stuff.
I hate permanent make up, it’s not discreet especially for the mouth.
Who’s going to do the makeup! Just like tattoos research your artist!!
It is a big decision! the pain for one! and secondly, you can never change the look. for example, if you got a harsh line of eyeliner, it can never really be smudged or played with.
NOOO permanent! that’s all I have to say!
Permanent is forever, semi-permanent fades. Consider it’s there forever and as with tattoos colours can fade / change.
I don’t work much with permanent makeup, but the times I have seen it, it usually makes the person look rather harsh. I am not a huge fan.
