Why would a 350 cubic inch chevy nova lose compression?
I've been adjusting the valve lash on the engine as prescribed in the auto manual but seems as of late I lost compression except on #3 and #7 plug holes.
go back and recheck your clearances. could also be worn piston rings.
can u say overtightened
Valves or bad rings
Maladjusted valves, burnt valves, bad piston rings, bad head gaskets, cracked heads.
Have you done a wet compression test. That is when you squirt a bit of oil into the cylinder and see if the compression increases. if it does that means you have a problem with the piston rings, if not it is the valves!
i have seen push rods get bent from an incorrect valve adjustment, that will cause the push rod to get stuck down holding the valve in the open position, i might be able to help more if you can get me some additional info, like what was the reason for making the adjustment, and how was the car running before.
blowby, you need to overhaul and rebuild your engine, meaning change all of the motors seals and orings, and oring pakings
